In CrossFit, we spend a lot of time prepping kids on how to move their bodies purposefully at bodyweight first before eventually under load.
For the month of April, we will be focusing on two skills – Tumbling and Gymnastics.
We will be working on some basic gymnastic skills like rolls, cartwheels and handstands. This is to build balance, flexibility, coordination, and midline stabilisation that is needed for all the movements in the CrossFit prescription, as well as safe escapes for times when movement strategies fail us.
Knowing how to safely tuck and roll out of a fall can be a life saving skill and certainly can help decrease the likelihood of injury in your child’s choice of sport.
